Taken from his new EP ‘Hell Of A Life’, we chat with Max to deep dive into his new body of work, what the lead single represents as a whole and why you should definitely keep an eye out for Max Sarre in 2023. Check it out below, exclusively at Music Crowns.

Hey Max, welcome to Music Crowns! Sum up your music for us in three words?

Hey! Thank you for having me, I love your articles and I’m really excited to be interview. Bold, bright, electropop

Who are your main musical heroes/influences?

This is always a tricky one because there’s so many artists I really love. I think if I had to pick who is one of my biggest influences it’s Justin Bieber. He is a real pop star in every way inside and out and that’s exactly what I’ve always wanted to be. From his signature pop sound to his videos to his tours, it’s exactly what I’m working towards. Charlie Puth is another incredible artist, he puts so much emotion in his work and I really feel it. His song BOY is incredible. Also sonic wise, Ava Max is a big influence, her production and vocals are impeccable.

How does it feel to be releasing your debut EP ‘Hell Of A Life’ into the world?

I am so excited to be releasing Hell Of A Life!! It’s been two years since I released an EP as last year was a string of singles. I’m so proud of this EP, it’s the best work I have done so far for sure. I had the concept planned for so long, when we went into the studio I knew exactly what I wanted and how I wanted it to sound so it was a really fun and easy process. I like to write huge (mostly) upbeat pop songs. I hope people get to relate and really enjoy it and hopefully this EP will  create some new milestones in my career.

What do you want this project to say about you as an artist?

I want this project to say that I can deliver the whole pop star package, from sound to catchy hooks to lyrics to visuals – I am a real pop star. I’m only an independent artist and I’m just about to turn 21 so I’m doing almost all of this by myself, but I want to show that I can do it and with a record deal (hopefully soon), I’ll be able to deliver hit after hit!

What is the lead single ‘Precision’ about?

Precision, Precision, Precision. That song is such a banger, the beat drop gets me every time. The song was influenced by some of my favourite pop songs of all time. It’s about feeling the most confident you can, you know that everything you do is gonna take you far with all the hard work you put in. I don’t always feel like this, but this song is my reminder to feel alive and good with everything going on in my life. I hope everyone can relate and feel truly alive when they hear it.

What was the recording and writing process like for this track?

Alright so *spoiler* but the whole EP is a concept EP. It follows the story of the 5 main feelings I had feeling as a teenager. Precision is track 2 and I had the whole concept planned in advance so I walked into the studio that day with the title, some lyrics, reference tracks and I knew exactly what I wanted to leave the studio with that day and it turned out amazing! We wrote the lyrics in a couple hours and the best came instantly. The recording was really fun; we did it a few months later and I had so much fun with it. You can hear me smiling and laughing throughout, I had goosebumps recording it even. I can’t believe it’s my lead single now!

Favourite lyric from the EP?

Hard but probably ‘I look deep into the sky with ecstasy in my eyes, holograms of my emotion sparking in this dark June night.’

And lastly, will you be planning to take your music on tour in 2023?

Oh yes, for sure. I’m always playing shows. I’ve got one on March 29th at The Roadtrip & Workshop in London, near Old Street. But the real exciting one is I may or may not be doing an EP release party/headline, which is in the works and it’s gonna be much more than a gig. It will be a real experience and party to meet cool people so I’ll be announcing that when the time is right!
