It’s safe to say that Col Gerrard has had quite a journey in the music business. Starting out at 19 with a big record deal, he then went into the film industry and made a living in other ways and took an inadvertent hiatus from making and releasing music. Now, he returns with a refreshed approach and ideology towards his craft, and started his project in 2022, resulting in a debut album that is nostalgically infused and brilliantly executed.
He wastes no time though, and begins 2023 with ‘Nowhere’ that perfectly encapsulates Gerrard. His raspy, commanding vocals reminiscent of Jon Bon Jovi himself, really takes you back to that vintage 80s era. However, the acoustic richness and full band performance gives an overall timeless feeling, which sets Col Gerrard apart. Building a substantial audience in this relatively short time, it’s evident that a lot of people are still clamouring for alt-rock infused soundscape mixed with an enhanced singer-songwriter twist.
